If you find yourself questioning the impact of hiring an editor, feel free to reach out for a brief consultation.
My primary commitment is to champion the underrepresented author. Whether or not you choose to work with me, your success in publishing is a victory for collective empowerment—a win for us all!

Editing emerged as my form of community service. Following the completion of my Journalism degree, individuals within my neighborhood and social circles sought my assistance in editing résumés, school papers, self-published books, business presentations, emails to HR/hiring managers, and more. Recognizing the absence of Black editors in my immediate community, I naturally evolved into the trusted "go-to copyeditor." Decades later, this foundation of trust led to the establishment of Lake Lion. Here, I aim to not only uphold that trust but also to collaborate with individuals, enabling them to effectively and professionally articulate their stories.

My editing practice is dedicated to a wide range of genres, including non-fiction, memoirs, academic, business, and legal writings, as well as fiction stories that navigate sensitive content, addressing emotional triggers. Beyond my proficiency in these areas, I hold a particular affinity for tackling complex subjects such as spirituality/religion, social issues/culture, and political theories.
Drawing from a diverse professional background, I've served Fortune 100 companies in the realms of technology, manufacturing, and financial services. Throughout my career, I've demonstrated success in leadership roles, overseeing large teams and global projects. My expertise spans various domains, encompassing HR, operations, compliance, information security, and more.

My approach is characterized by professionalism, authenticity, a touch of directness, yet sincere encouragement. While I meticulously edit draft copies and manuscripts, I also invest substantial time inspiring new authors to give their utmost throughout the demanding writing process. I guide authors in honing in on their 'why'—the compelling reason that drove them to write—and support them through the entire journey. I firmly believe that crafting a book is a response to a higher calling, a commitment to contribute and share an experience, story, or advice capable of stirring, motivating, challenging, and potentially changing the world.
Here's to the author's journey, and the fulfillment of your writing goals!
Every story, every experience matters and has value. I encourage my authors to never be afraid to share what made you—you.
